UKPANAH’S ASSASINATION: 'MURDER WAS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED' – POLICE

Fresh facts have emerged on the circumstances leading to recent assassination of a top notch politician of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial descent, the Late Albert Ukpanah, as the report of police investigation on the incident has vindicated the son of the deceased Odudu Ukpanah, who was erroneously and widely speculated as the culprit.

The report which the Guide Newspaper obtained from a source revealed that the late Hon (Engr.) Albert Ukpanah was hacked to death by unknown assassins on Wednesday, the 12th of March this year at about 9:40pm in his Mbiokporo street residence at Abak had allegedly attended a meeting with his excellency, Chief Godswill Akpabio few hours before his assassination.
The police report further indicated that the Late Ukpanah was in possession of some amount of money prior to his death, allegedly given to him by the Governor, stressing that the whereabouts of the undisclosed sum of money is still yet to be ascertained by the police as the deceased’s apartment and the Hilux vehicle driven by the Late Ukpanah had been tampered with.

According to the police report signed by the Investigation Police Officer Sergeant Ibediro Nnamdi, the late Ukpanah, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party from Nsekhe village in Ukanafun Local Government Area had left Uyo in his Hilux Car to Abak at about 4pm, packed the car in his compound and drove out in a Honda Civic vehicle. Twenty minutes later, he returned the car in the company of his girlfriend’s brother, Mokomobong Monday Obot, a graduate of Applied Science and Postgraduate student of the University of Uyo and went out with the latter in his sister’s car.
