The endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in 2015 by elders and Governors of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) of the South-South Zone has been lauded by a frontline socio-cultural and political organization in Akwa Ibom State.
The organization made this known to newsmen at the Cultural Centre, Calabar, through its National Coordinator, Mr. Nsima Uwak, during the recently concluded PDP South-South Zonal Tour, saying Governors and stakeholders of the region have proven to be true sons and daughters of the area.
Uwak said Ikpoto Akwa Ibom is resolute and committed to the position of the party regarding the second term bid of the President, reiterating that the organization’s resolution was in tandem with the communiqué issued at the meeting like “In view of Jonathan’s doggedness in pursuing his transformation agenda for Nigeria, the South-South is in full support of his administration. We, therefore, endorse Mr. President for the forthcoming 2015 presidential election, to enable him continue with his transformation agenda, which transcends all spheres of our lives.”
The National Coordinator also expressed optimism that the spate of violence and insecurity in the country will soon be a thing of the past, according to him, “we have seen the President’s zeal and commitment towards bringing to a stop the spate of violence and insecurity in the country. On our part, we will do our best to make sure the President succeeds. We will support him to the fullest.”
He commended the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, for rekindling hope to the common man, saying “the speech of the PDP National Chairman rekindled hope to the common man, which is exactly what our organization stands for. We believe the party’s nomination and the 2015 elections will be based on detects of the people and the party.”
Uwak, who expressed appreciation to the people for their show of solidarity to Governor Godswill Akpabio at the event, urged members of the organization to endeavour to take the message of the PDP National Chairman to their respective Wards and mobilize effectively for the right candidate for the 2015 governorship in the state.
