The Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Political Parties/Cordinator of SAs on grassroot mobilization, Rt. Hon Anthony Akan, today donated food items, cloths, cash, walking sticks to widows numbering about hundred in Northern Uruan ward one as well as the entirety of elders in the ward.
The immediate past Executive chairman of Uruan Local Government Area, who also doled out huge sum of money, food and gift items to another round of youths in the area stressed that the items given were his gesture towards sharing the joy of the yuletide with them.
Accompanied by the State Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Hon. Frank Achibong, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor said he chooses to honour widows and elders noting that over the years, his search light has always been beemed on youths.
He recalled that, he had earlier last week put smiles on the faces of youths and party executive and members in his Uyo residence.
He however commended the community for the support they gave to People’s Democratic Party that led to overwhelming victory of governor Udom Emmanuel and urged them to keep the fly flying by also supporting the second term ambition of the governor.
In his remark, the Political Leader of Northern Uruan, Obong Offiong Akpabio commended Hon. Akan for the gestures portraying him as a good son from a good father.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the gift items and prayed for God bountiful blessing upon the donor.
Also speaking, Hon. Frank Achibong described the SSA to the governor as a close ally with a large heart and commended him for keeping the People’s Democratic Party intact in Uruan.
This reporter observes that the widows and elders were drawn from Northern Uruan one with particular reference to Mbiaya Uruan village.
