September 16, 2016 will mark the official opening of Tilapia Island Resort, a one-stop tourism, leisure and recreational resort in Abak Local Government Area. Last weekend, the Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Mr. Ufok Ebong visited the resort accompanied by the Transition Chairman, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Udosen, to assess the level of completion of the project.

Speaking to this reporter shortly after the inspection tour, Mr. Ebong said that the reality of this project is a practical demonstration both of the Dakkada philosophy and the wealth creation drive of the Udom Emmanuel-led administration.

According to him, “when the Governor came with a philosophy creed to reawaken the Can-Do spirit of our people, some actually did not understand what that meant; but this is a practical demonstration that Akwa Ibomites were created great people with huge potential to turn waste to wealth without government input.”

“This is a Local Direct Investment that has surpassed anything I have seen our people do anywhere. Tilapia Resort is a massive project that will attract a lot of people to Akwa Ibom state. I feel so proud and I advice the visionaries to maintain the vision and take things one step at the time”.

The Transition Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Emmanuel Udosen while speaking to this reporter said his intention of making Abak the industrial hub of Akwa Ibom State remains a strong desire and commitment, which he aims to deploy as complimentary to the developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel. Tilapia Island resort is a private sector tourism investment attracted to Abak by the administration of Dr. Emmanuel Udosen.

Also reacting, the Chairman of Tilapia Island Resort, Mr. Saviour Udoh appreciated the endorsement of the SSA to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Mr. Ufot Ebong and praised his decision to take time out off his busy schedule to tour the facility.

He specially thanked the Transition Chairman of Abak, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Udosen for providing an enabling environment, and for demonstrating the commitment to attract such a capital-intensive investment to Abak.

Mr. Udoh used the opportunity to invite Akwa Ibom people to the official opening of Tilapia Island on September 16.
