Very versatile and brisk, his approach to life is akin to the proverbial cat with nine lives. He never gives up and will never lose hope on anything. He is like the mythical phoenix, when all appears dim and finished, he rises to the occasion and conquers it with surpassing strenght. He stands daily to the faith of his convictions, that what God has destined for him, no man can take away. His name is Udom Emmanuel, the man with the divine mandate to lead the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Recently, many have wondered what the Governor’s honest reaction would be after the Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja upheld his election and ordered a re-run in 18 local government areas. The man has remained as cool as cucumber and has reiterated his burning desire to positively change the landscape, psyche, economy and boost the human capital base of the state.
It is the winning spirit that has kept the Akwa Ibom Governor on. The passion that what must be done, must be done despite the distractions and the forces of human gravity deliberately trying to pull one down. It is the winning mentality that has propelled him to a flying start in office. In the area of infrastructure and roads, Udom Emmanuel is winning as work is ongoing on 137 kilometers of road courtesy of our administration. These roads include; Dualization of 21.7km- Uyo-Etinan Road, Construction of 39.4 km Etinan- Ndon Eyo Road with two bridges and spur, Construction of 7.3 km Ikot Ebekpo – Ikot Ebidang Road to aid the citing of a clay refining factory, Construction of 3.5km Ikot Udom Road with 15m span bridge in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Resumption of work at Ikot Ekara/Ikot Ibritam road in Oruk Anam LGA, Construction of 5km Ikot Usop- Ikot Edeghe Ikot – Ekpuk Road with 30m span bridge in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Construction of 5km Mkpok-Okat Road in Onna Local Government Area.
Work has also resumed on the dualization of Eket-Ibeno Road; urban renewal projects within Eket and Oron townships; construction of second runway at the Ibom International Airport; construction of three collapsed bridges and internal roads in Obot Akara Local Government Area; construction of 1.2km underground drainage in Uyo by Nsikak Eduok/Oron road junction. Dualization of Uyo-Okobo-Oron Road linking East-West road spanning 30km. The governor has commissioned water reticulation and head-works in Ifa Atai and Idu Uruan, in Uyo and Uruan LGA respectively. More of these water projects will soon be commissioned.
The winning spirit in Udom Emmanuel has spared no efforts in driving him to industrialize our state. Peacock Paints has been revitalized and recommissioned. There has been groundbreaking ceremonies for the car assembly plant in Itu LGA as well as the Low Energy Display(LED) Manufacturing plant at Itam. Shoprite Mall is coming to the Tropicana in Uyo.
The administration has also performed the groundbreaking ceremonies of the Fertilizer Plant and the Daar Communications Broadcast complex at Abak. At the same time an Electric meter assembly and clay processing plants are underway in Onna LGA. Our foreign direct investment committee is on a roadshow attracting investments from over Fifty countries that have indicated interest to invest in Akwa Ibom. The Ibom deep sea-port project is on course. The Udom Emmanuel administration has built more substations and this has improved electricity supply significantly.
More than anything else, Governor Udom Emmanuel knows that what will propel Akwa Ibom to greatness is not money alone. It is a positive change of charater and a renew spirit to achieve greatness. He has taught the people the creed of greatness. His Dakkada campaign is an invitation to the people to arise to the faith of greatness, spiritual rebirth, moral transformation and reorientation.
The Dakkada call is a call to rise to the faith that with God, all things are possible; a call to rise to the faith that we can rise beyond biases, ethnicity, religion and gender; a call to rise to faith of our human and intellectual resources; to chart a new course for the present and future generations of Akwa Ibomites. Dakkada is a call on the people to rise to greatness, because that Akwa Ibom is destined to be great.
Akwa Ibom have their weight strongly behind their Governor and have deplored their all to defend their Mandate. Their support and prayers goes to the man that is naturally loved and admired by his people; a fine democrat and pivot of mass mobilization; a man who achieves greatness through his assiduousness , self- will and sheer determination. Akwa Ibom people are rallying round a performer and a good listener; a man that remains unruffled even at the height of unwarranted intimidation and provocation; a man with critical thinking skills, a man whose edge is his integrity and who posseses unrivalled technical skills to handle those challenging assignments, fiscal matters, policies, plans, projects, ideas and a man who can weave solutions to problems.
Sincerely, it is not as if those who rise against Udom Emmanuel love Akwa Ibom better than he does. It is not as if the APC candidate hails from the senatorial district that ought to produce the governor this time. It is not as if the people who have vowed to spend their last kobo to ensure he is sent out of office can achieve more than he is achieving. It is not as if the APC and its candidate can win the Akwa Ibom Governor, even in a simple debate of ideas. They know they can’t. The forces I see against Udom Emmanuel is an amalgam of people who have lost one phase in the battle of life and have refused to move on. The only unity of purpose they share is to gun the Akwa Ibom Governor down, anyhow they can.
Unknown to them, Mr Udom Emmanuel was created for times like now. The more efforts the APC puts in in snatching the DIVINE MANDATE, the sweeter the victory is for the Governor, the government and the development-loving people of Akwa Ibom State. It is not our fault that lines are falling for us in pleasant places. We are just blessed with a man born to win.
