Stakeholders and Heads of different unions and associations of the Transport sector in Akwa Ibom, have received the appointment of Honourable Orman Esin as Commissioner of Transport and Petroleum resources with elation and optimism.
At his familiarization meeting with the stakeholders on Friday morning at the Ministry conference room in Uyo, they took turns to praise the approach of the new commissioner to issues affecting them, on his first interface with them.
Addressing the stakeholders, Hon. Esin assured of an all inclusive style of leadership.
“Any decision we will make here, we will involve you. We will discuss it before going ahead with it. I need you to go and put down your thoughts, your suggestions, activities and even your challenges; and bring them to us here. If there are issues bothering you, feel free to come to me”. He said.
Esin, who has promoted the notion of decency and order in the transport sector, since resuming office, also seized the moment to charge the sector heads on leading their groups with honesty, the fear of God, and commitment to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“Don’t you think that a leader, who tells you to rise up to greatness, and to believe in your potentials, has your best interests at heart? Governor Udom Emmanuel respects you people. This Government does not see you or your people as ‘agberos’. You are smart people, and you must decide to be responsible.”
Reacting to the Commissioner’s charge the union leaders praised his spirit, expressing strong hope that the sector will ascend higher heights and pledging to work with him to achieve the vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel for the sector.
“What we have heard today gives us hope. We will all work with you…”, Mr Nsikan Johnny, of AKTC, said.
