THE STORM IS OVER, LET’S WORK TOGETHER HENCEFORTH – Ex-Governors Tell Udom Emmanuel
All former governors of Akwa Ibom state including Obong Victor Attah and their deputies have agreed to work together in the interest of peace and development of the state.
This follows the Supreme Court victory which reaffirmed the election of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Attah, a former governor between 1999 and 2007, was among other key politicians opposed to the emergence of Udom Emmanuel, as Akpabio’s successor.
But, under the aegis of the Committee of Former Governors and Deputy Governors of Akwa Ibom State (CFGDGA), the former leaders of the state resolved it was time jettison every sentiments and work for unity, peace and development of Akwa Ibom.
Attah, who is the chairman of the forum and his former deputy, Obong Christopher Stephen Ekpenyong (Ukarakpa) secretary, signed the statement along with others including Godswill Akpabio and former deputies-Amb. Etim Okpoyo, Sir Michael Udofia, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu and Lady Valarie Ebe
“It is quite a relief that the Supreme Court has at last given a final determination in your favour regarding your election. With this confirmation of your mandate, we bring you our best wishes for a successful and peaceful tenure in office.
“So far, by your demonstration that decorum and not impunity should guide and regulate our affairs, you are already on the right path. By affirming your desire to create employment and engage our people, you have inspired hope. Also by constantly reiterating your emphasis on industrialization and not indecent and selective demonstration of patronages to loyalists.’’
