SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE IN AKWA IBOM IS REAL – Govt

Henshaw Nyong –

Akwa Ibom State government has declared that the much touted “Superior Performance of Governor Udom Emmanuel” is real, in view of the administration’s determined and sustained intervention in infrastructural development.

The State Commissioner for Works; Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, dropped the hint, Thursday, during his regular inspection of road projects.

Inyang-Eyen, who informed that the current administration’s interventions were focused on the people and the need to make them have faith in good governance, assured that the State government has engaged quality contractors who have the necessary capacity to deliver on schedule.

His words: “For instance, Etinan Ndon Eyo Road is almost like a miracle and I must commend Witzchino Engineering for a quality job on that road”. Inyang-Eyen stated that the government was taking advantage of the dry season to step up roads construction in the entire State.

Attributing the successes recorded by the Udom Emmanuel led administration since assumption of office to God’s benevolence and support of the people, the Commissioner urged Akwa Ibomites to pray for an improved economy to enable Governor Udom Emmanuel do more.

The Works boss warned some people along Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Highway, who erected spurious structures and fake tomb stones to extort money from government as compensation to desist forthwith, stating unequivocally that government would not pay for such phoney structures since according to him, the act was “improper and anti-development”.

Divulging the reason behind the slow pace of work in some project sites, Inyang-Eyen said, his Ministry was working as the funds come.

“What the government is avoiding is releasing the entire money to one contractor and there is no money to work. So, what we do is to take a small percentage of the money released to the contractor for compensation so that when we pay, the contractor works”, the Commissioner explained.

While insisting that despite the poor economic situation in the country, the government of Mr Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom has made everything possible to put the State on sound footing to allow businesses thrive and make lives meaningful to the people, the Works Commissioner appealed to all and sundry to continue supporting the government for more democratic dividends.

THE TOWN CRIER reports that, the inspection tour took the team to the ongoing construction of Uyo – Ikot Ekpene Highway, Uyo – Etinan Road, Etinan Ndoneyo Road, the remodeling and beautification work at the Eket round-about, amongst other
