Ikot Ekpene to get International Market-
The PDP Governorship candidate in Akwa
Ibom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has promised to build an international Market in Ikot Ekpene.
Udom Emmanuel dropped tge hint while
addressing the mammoth crowd that trooped out to the Ikot Ekpene township Stadium for the Governorship rally on Tuesday. The PDP standard bearer for the February 2015 Election argued that as the pioneer Local Government in Africa and Nigeria in particular and as one which is known for her rich raffia works and crafts industry which have export value, Ikot Ekpene deserves an
International market to serve as an outlet for those goods they are famous for.
He thanked Governor Akpabio for
transforming Ikot Ekpene to a cosmopolitan town with a four star sheraton hotel, dualized roads, good street network, a stadium and many other amenities that will make
development an easy task.
Promising not to go below the high and
excellent standard set by Governor Akpabio, Deacon Emmanuel also disclosed that, he will within 90 days of his administration ensure a Census of Unemployed Youths in the State so
as to create a data base for the government to create jobs and identify the area specifics of the youths. He harped that, this will scale down the rate of youth employment in the state.
Mr Udom who maintained that his
government will bring hope to our people, also promised to sustain the welfare of women and widows in the State, and charged the women to stick with the PDP at all levels for the upcoming elections.
Earlier, Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio, who himself is running for the senate seat of Akwa Ibom North West(Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District stated that, the Peoples Democratic Party, is the party that is making things happen in Nigeria. Making references to PDP controlled states where he said things
are happening and development is taking place, the governor says, that reality would soon set in when the Nigerian people massively vote PDP back to power, noting that, thereafter propaganda from the opposition party will stop.
He berated the opposition controlled states for the chaos and near anarchy reigning in such states as Borno, and Yobe among others and urged the people to remain with PDP.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the rally include, former Senator who represented Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, former Deputy Governors, Obong Chris Ekpenyong and Sir Michael Udofia and Commissioner for Works, Mr Don Etim.
Others who addressed the rally which
Akpabio described as a State rally because of the massive turnout are Council Chairman, Mrs Gloria Useh, former Works and Housing Minister, Rt. Hon Nduese Essien, Senator Effiong Bob, the Director General of the Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organization,
Otuekong Idonesit Nkanga and Obong Paul Ekpo the State chairman of the party.
