The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Candidate in Akwa Ibom State Mr Udom Emmanuel has assured that he will turn the State into an economic hub through an aggressive industrialization and agricultural revolution programme if elected into office.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Uyo Township Stadium, he told them that his vision for the State is to consolidate on the gains brought about by Governor Godswill Akpabio’s infrastructural renaissance and to open up the state to the world.
Udom identified the airport and seaport as major gateways to economic boom, and pledged his resolve to facilitate the immediate completion of the Ibaka Deep Seaport project and complete the second Phase of the Ibom International Airport.
While paying glowing tributes to Governor Akpabio, Udom said with the gateways in place, his administration will open an international market that will be boosted by the deep seaport and other amenities in the state.
He promised to ensure job creation through creating a vibrant industrial atmosphere that will boost entrepreneurship and Human capital development. He added that his administration will also focus on the overall wellbeing of a common man, that will generate employment and empowerment for all.
The Governorship hopeful pledged to continue from the foundation laid by the present administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio, stressing that the brand new international stadium in the state will be converted into an Institute of Sports development to enable young Akwa Ibom people to create wealth through sports and entertainment.
Udom who thanked the people of the State for their massive show of support to his aspiration, extended an olive branch to other aspirants of the PDP in the Governorship race to come back home and join in the task of building the State, emphasizing that sustainable development can best be driven by peace, unity and harmony.
In their separate messages at the occasion, different party chieftains had described Udom Emmanuel as a product of thorough research and divinity with proven intellectual capacity to take the state to the next level.
The State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, former national and state lawmakers as well and other elders spoke at the occasion.
41 PDP Candidates for next month’s general elections were presented with symbolic flag by the State Chairman of the Party, Obong Paul Ekpo who charged them to bring back victory songs to the party.
