The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senator
representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief (Dr.)
Godswill Akpabio has debunked insinuations that he was
arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).

The former Governor who disclosed this recently at a public
event in the State, said all along, he has been committed to
the demands of his office as a Senator of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria.

It would be recalled that in recent times a section of the
media have been awashed with widespread speculations that
he is under the EFCC net. The speculations triggered mixed
reactions from members of the public with some calling for his
head while others were said to be sympathetic to him
But Senator Akpabio, apparently reacting to the speculations
said “see me here, I’m here to present myself to prove that
I’m not in EFCC net” the former Governor noted. Speaking
further, Chief Akpabio jokingly noted that he was thinking that
immediately he left office, the media hype against him would
have shifted to his successor but was shocked to realize that
the media are still chasing after him.

“But they are still writing about Akpabio, Akpabio Akpabio
(referring to media)… It is like it could take up to a year or
two before they forget about me; perhaps they still have me in
their hearts” Chief Akpabio had noted.
