As preparation for the 2016 Local Government election in the state gathers momentum, youths of Afaha Obong Clan in Abak local government area under the umbrella of Patriotic Youths of Afaha Obong, have persuaded the Transition Committee Chairman for Abak, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen to aspire.
The youths who gathered at Country Home Global Garden, Ikot Akpabio to celebrate the victory of Mr. Udom Emmanuel at the Supreme Court recently, described the ruling as the will of God and victory for democracy.
Addressing the large turn-out of youths, the Coordinator of the Organization, Prince Usen Joshua, expressed happiness that the Supreme Court ruling will now afford the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel the opportunity to settle down and concentrate on his planned industrialization of the state.
The Coordinator pointed out that when becoming operational, the industries would create job opportunities to the many unemployed indigenes of the state especially the youths. He assured Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his Deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo of the total and unalloyed support of Patriotic Youths of Afaha Obong to their administration.
On the forth-coming local government election, Prince Joshua explained that it is the turn of Eastern Annang to produce the next Chairman of the Council, since the immediate past Chairman came from Abak Urban.
The Coordinator said having satisfied with the performance of the present Transition Committee Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen and based on the fact that he is from Eastern Annang, the youths have no option than to persuade him to aspire so as to continue with his good works.
He noted that within his few months in office, Dr. Udosen has put smiles on the faces of Abak people including the youths, Elders and the women. “Dr. Emmanuel Udosen is a youth-friendly Chairman, who has carried everybody along in his administration. He has empowered the youths, the women and the Elders. He has restored the lost glory of Abak. As you can go round the town and see, Abak is now clean again. Even with complaints of lack of funds in local government councils across the state, Dr. Udosen has been able to embark on massive grading of roads. Above all, he is highly intelligent and God fearing. So we have no other option than to persuade him to run”, Prince Joshua stated.
The Coordinator assured that with his antecedent, if given the opportunity, Dr. Udosen would not disappoint the people of Abak. At the end of the meeting, the youths promised to purchase the PDP Nomination Form for Dr. Emmanuel Udosen to contest.
Present at the meeting were past and present Ward Executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the two wards that make up Afaha Obong Clan.
Meanwhile, one of the leading Councillorship aspirants from Afaha Obong Ward 2, Mr. Ifiok Solomon Sunday has advised the youths to support a man that has something to offer the people of Abak, but should not be based on ethnicity.
Village Youth Chairmen from Afaha Obong Clan who spoke at the occasion, supported the position of the youths, describing Dr. Emmanuel Udosen as the best material for the job.
