Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday, stimulated the feelings of the people of Uruan and Itu Local Government Areas, when he flagged off the construction of Mbiatok, Ekit Itam, Mbiaya, Ibiaku Uruan Road.
The road, measuring 4.0 Kilometres, would be handled by Trident System Energy Limited and cuts across two Local Government Areas; Itu and Uruan.
However, the flag-off ceremony attracted prominent sons and daughters of the two areas including the State commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr Akan Okon, Senator Anietie Okon, the royal fathers, youth and women groups, children and indeed a good number of natives of Uruan and Itu Local Government Areas.
Addressing the people before flagging off the road, Governor UDOM Emmanuel, reminded them that he personally promised the communities that he will construct the road if elected.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang, stated unequivocally that the UDOM EMMANUEL led government does not play politics with development of the entire State.
While urging youths of the areas to give maximum support and cooperation to the contracting firm to deliver the job in time, Emmanuel, assured that rural communities as well as areas who were not developed by previous administrations in the state, will feel impact of his government.
Those who gave emotion-laden speeches; Mr Akan Okon, Senator Anietie Okon, Village Heads of the benefiting communities were indeed touched by the governor’s pragmatism, even as they commended him for his doggedness.
They unanimously promised to ensure through their massive votes that UDOM EMMANUEL remains governor of Akwa Ibom State till 2023.
