Free Medical Care: A Legislator's milk of kindness -By Evelyn AFFIA

The member representing Eket Federal Constituency, Deaconess Owoidighe Ekpoattai during the 2016 Annual General meeting of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at Idu Uruan in Uruan Local government Area with the theme; “Universal Health Coverage, Prospect and challenges” sponsored a 2 -day free medical service for the people of her constituency

Ekpoattai, who kick started the free medical service at Immanuel hospital, Eket led by the Chief medical director of the area among several other medical practitioners and dignitaries in the state.
The lawmaker noted that she picked very special interest in offering free medical services to the people because of the fact that health care provision is a basic requirement of every human and observed that when an individual is in good health, such individual has a life in abundance.

Speaking further, Deaconess Ekpoattai called on the people to join hands with the udom Emmanuel Led administration to ensure that medical and services are provided for the people while describing the state Governor as a leader made for this time and wished the Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State branch a fruitful celebration.
On his part, the chairman of NMA, Augustine Umoh described the federal lawmaker as a worthy example in legislation.
He noted that the people of Eket Federal constituency have been blessed with Mrs Ekpoattai who is not only a voice in the green chambers of the National Assembly but a woman who brings back goodies to the people of her federal constituency as exemplified in the sponsorship of free medical services for her people ever since she resumed duties as the member of parliament.
