The directive by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State for the immediate resumption of work on the deplorable Eket-Ibeno road has further won him the admiration of the people of the state, the latest being the people of the host communities.
In an appreciation letter from the people of Eket, signed by the National President, Eket Peoples Union, Prof. Asindi Andrew Asindi, the people of the area expressed happiness at the prompt intervention of the governor on the deplorable condition of the road which serves as access road to oil producing communities of the in the area.
The message reads in parts, “Your pragmatic directive which is in the right direction is a highly welcomed development in view of the economic importance of the road to the entire Akwa Ibom and Nigerian people, considering the oil exploration activities of Exxon-Mobil Company in the area”.
The people of Eket also commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for ordering the immediate beautification of Urua Offiong Etok area, even as he appealed to the governor to ‘extend the same kind directive to the Eket-Etinan road’.
“It has also come to the notice of the Eket people that you have ordered the beautification of the uruaoffiong Etok area of Eket. The People are equally grateful for this”
“May I use the instrumentality of this letter to appeal to you to extend same kind directive on the Eket-Etinan road, commenced at the same time time with the Eket-Ibeno Road, which is now a dead trap, following its abandonment”.
