…as PDP Receives 860 APC Returnees
The ongoing wave of defections experienced in the State was today moved to Nsit Ubium Local Government Area as not fewer than 860 members of the All Progressive Congress APC decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP
While receiving the APC decampees alongside the State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, the political leader of Nsit Ubium Sen Effiong Bob, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr Onofiok Luke noted that they are opening up their arms to receive the decampees assuring them of being carried along in the scheme of things
Barr Luke said that they in Nsit Ubium would continue to hold side by side the philosophy of building industries and at the same distributing empowerment to its people.
Barr Luke made this call today during the gathering to celebrate Easter with PDP faithful where 860 Decampees from the All Progressive Congress APC were received into the PDP fold.
The speaker while speaking against the backdrop where some stakeholders refuse to report back progress to the grassroot, noted that while industries and infrastructure are being built to give assurance to the future of Nsit Ubium youths and those of the State in extension, they in the local government would not fail to bring back what they receive from the centre to share with the people, that being the age long philosophy.
He called on the people to continue in the support to the State governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel to continue in office till 2023 while also assuring that he will not rest in his oars in delivering the dividends of democracy which spans through educational support, agricultural support and empowerment in numerous sectors.
While advising the people to abhor criminality which he said should not be heard of in the local government, Barr Luke called on the Party faithful to receive the APC Decampees with open arms.
In his remarks, the political leader of Nsit Ubium, distinguished Senator Effiong Bob noted that the party in Nsit Ubium would continue in its regular meetings and would not only wait till election time before it meets.
While noting that the PDP in Nsit Ubium is a foundation party, noted that they are settled in their support to the State governor for his second term and advised that there should not be discrimination among those who have returned back to the Party.
High point of the event was the receiving of the decampees into the PDP fold by the State PDP chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo.
