In the spirit of the Christmas celebration which is anchored on love, care and generosity, the Special Assistant to the Governor Udom Emmanuel on Research and documentation, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas Okokon on 25th December 2015 practically took the message of love to communities in Uruan as part of his strides to reachout to the downtrodden with the Dakkada spirit which is centered on determination, courage , love and unity even as he marked his Birthday on December 25th .
Nicholas otherwise known as Whitebombom at the event put smiles on the faces of the widow, widowers, youths and the elderly as they returned home with their basin filled with valuable commodities. Addressing the audience, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for giving him opportunity to serve in his administration. He said Udom is the best thing that has happened to Akwa Ibom State so far as he has been a source of encouragement and hope to the youths of the state.
Nicholas, who took time to praise Governor Udom Emmanuel before the mammoth crowd that thronged his Nung Oku Uruan residence assured that the state government is set to commence the construction of Anua – Nung Oku – Ishiet Market Road possible in the first quarter of the year. “Commissioner For Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Enyen has given me hope that Government would soon mobilized contractors handling the job” He said.
He urged the people of Central Uruan ward three and the entire Uruan people to continue to give their support to the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration, as the Governor is poised to completely transform the state within a short period of time. He said the event of giving back to his people commenced over five years ago and promised to do more. On his birthday, the SA media thanked God for sparing his life throughout the stormy year of 2015, expressing optimism that the new year would be better as he is ready to work and surpass the previous years.
Over five hundreds bags of rice (25kg) were shared to Widows, Youths and the Orphanage throughout the villages that formed central Uruan ward 3.
Reacting to the development, a woman leader in Nung Oku, Mrs Lucy Edem expressed gratitude to God for giving someone like Emmanuel Nicholas Okokon to the ward.
She said she has been a beneficiary of Emmanuel Nicholas’s benevolence for over two years now. While thanking Mr. Nicholas for remembering them during the yuletide, Mma Edem prayed for God’s grace to Nicholas Okokon to enable him extend to other parts of Uruan and the state at large.
Also, Mrs. Affiong Edem, who spoke in Ibibio language, lauded the benevolent strides of Mr. Nicholas Okokon to the people of the area and assured of continuous support to the PDP, “Every where you go we will go with you, you have shown us example of being loyal to government in power, we will follow you where you go”.
