Business: A’Ibom Govt Set to Lease Tropicana Hotel…

Tropicana Hotels and Conference Centre are to be leased out to private investors under comparative advantage for completion and management.
This is to add value and attract big business to the hospitality outfit.

The Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties Mr Akan Okon, said this was part of the resolutions reached at the Executive Council Meeting presided over by the state Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel .

The Commissioner who was flanked by his counterpart in the Ministry of Information and Strategy Mr Charles Udoh and Commissioner for Youth And Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, said that the transaction dynamics have been assigned to lawyers competent in such transaction, adding that the deal would be sealed in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice.

Hear him, “The Tropicana Hotel would be leased to private sector for completion and management. When that is done the hotel would be put to use and a wide range of job opportunities and services would be offered to Akwa Ibom people.

The Conference Centre would also be completed as part of the deal. This would be done in such a way that add value and attract more business to the Hotel. The transaction will be handled by a team of lawyers who are competent in the transaction in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice.”

Sir Monday Uko who also spoke said that the meeting also witnessed the presentation of 2017 Aiteo Cup and a cheaque of twenty five million naira won by Akwa United Football Club in the just concluded Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) tournament.

“we presented the first Aiteo Cup to the Governor in Council. The state Executive Council members were present and given commendation to the management and players of Akwa United Football Club.

“We also presented the runner-up and a cheque of Five million naira won by the female team for the first time in the history of Akwa Ibom State having pushed our team to play in the finals at the City of Jos. Fortunately, we came second and a cash prize of five million naira was awarded to the female team.

“Akwa United became the first team in the Federation to win this trophy sponsored by Aiteo. You’re aware that in the month of september Akwa Ibom State also came second in the entire country when we had the National Youth Sports Festival. It has been a session of celebration, the Governor and the entire State is happy.” He stated.
