The embattled All Progressives Congress governorship candidate who failed the last general elections, Obong Umana Okon Umana is said to be very angry with the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church Of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye over his visit to Akwa Ibom State on January 21, 2016 during which he paid a courtesy call on Governor Udom Emmanuel.
A media aide to the Umana who said he is not authourized to speak on the matter, but confided in our reporter, said Umana was displeased at how
Pastor Adeboye celebrated Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel during a courtesy call and in the church when the governor was given a thunderous standing ovation, which Umana said was embarrassing to his wife who is a member of the church.
It will be recalled that, during the visit the RCCG leader had pronounced divine blessings on the leadership of Akwa Ibom State and the citizens. Papa Adeboye endorsed the state government stating that, it “..gives God a prime place in its administration
through laudable Christian programmes which draws men to
Pastor Adeboye who was in Akwa Ibom for a two day spiritual programme, recalled that his last visit
to the state was in 2013 December during Akwa Ibom State Christmas
Carol, where he officiated.
The man of God described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a spiritual son, and noted that a father pays homage
to a son to encourage him in his leadership stride especially now that the country is going through tough times occasioned by economic and political upheavals.
Umana’s aide said such commendation did not go down well with Umana and he believed the General Overseers prayers will hurt his desperate fight to be governor.
Our reporter learnt that, Umana who convened a prayer summit where he hired some pastors to castigate the State leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, for identifying with Governor Emmanuel for the States annual solemn assembly, has since reported Pastor Adeboye to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is a Pastor in RCCG.
Meanwhile, a cleric in RCCG who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was not sure of the alleged anger of Umana against daddy(Adeboye). He however insisted that, Pastor Adeboye is not a politician and is not partisan, neither supporting the PDP, APC or any other party and should be left out of the power struggle in the state.
