Youths have been urged to embrace sports and spirit of community for a better society.
The Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor, Mr Aniekeme Finbarr gave the advice after kicking off the 2016 Afaha Iman Unity Cup at Primary School, Afaha Iman, Etinan Local Government Area on Friday.
Finbarr said he was proud to belong to a community known for its age long spirit of brotherhood and celebrated for standing by one another.
The Governor’s Media Aide noted that football remains the natural unifier of every Nigerian and pledged to ensure the competition goes on to fire up the sense of love and conviviality.
He thanked the participating families of Nung Itina, Nung Udo Umoh, Nung Umoren, Nung Idem, Nung Atai, Nung Ofon Essien and gave each of them a cash donation of N20,000 each and a giant trophy to the organizers.
Finbarr assured that he will continue to support all the development efforts of the Afaha people and urged everyone to be good ambassadors of the Afaha in all their endeavour.
Nung Ofon Essien defeated Nung Umoren by one goal to nothing in the day’s fixture.
The final of the Afaha Iman Unity Cup is billed for January 1, 2016.
