As part of efforts to fulfil his campaign promises for the people of Uruan and Uyo Local Government Areas, Akwa Ibom State government has embarked on construction of the 19.7km Anua-Mbak-Ishiet Road .
The State Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang who inspected the ongoing project, gave the assurance that the road construction work which cuts across two Local Government Areas would be completed in 18 months while new ones would be awarded.
He pleaded with the youth of the two communities to cooperate with the construction Company handling the project; Verini Construction Company.
The Commissioner who was flanked by the Permanent Secretary, Elder Effiong Essien and some directors of the Works’ Ministry, stressed that the Udom Emmanuel led government was bringing hope to the hopeless and doing the best for the development of the entire State, especially in areas that were in dire need of development.
Commissioner Inyang accentuated that one of the cardinal objectives of the Udom Emmanuel government was to make life easy for the affected communities thus, its decision to pay compensation before demolishing affected structures.
“What we need is your support and cooperation. Don’t allow disgruntled elements to come and cause trouble in our communities”, he said.
On his part, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Reserach and Documentation; Mr Emmmanuel Nicholas, who is an indigene of Nnung Oku Uruan, one of the Villages that benefits from the road conatruction, lauded the State’s Chief Exceutive for fulfilling the promise he made to Uruan people during his electioneering.
The elated aide assured of his people’s cooperation and support to government and the construction company handling the road project.
“I can say authoritatively that God Almighty is happy with Governor Udom Emmanuel with this work he has embarked upon. The Lord will give him more wisdom and strength to succeed… From what my people have said, we will give him all our votes; 100 percent in 2019”, the governor’s aide noted.
