…Dedicates new leadership to God
The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, has pledged the readiness of the 6th assembly to partner Governor Udom Emmanuel on the administration’s development agenda for the state. He made the pledge Tuesday during the dedication service of the new leadership of the House at the House of Assembly Chapel.
Addressing the congregation shortly after his dedication, Rt. Hon. Luke said “We will cooperate with the executive to bring democratic dividends to Akwa Ibom people’’. The new Speaker stressed the need for the various arms of government to partner towards the achievement of every single development goal which government has set.
While dedicating his leadership position to God, Hon. Luke described his new position of responsibility as “the continuation of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko’s administration’’. He demonstrated his resolve to maintain some of the immediate-past Speaker’s ideals by announcing that he was going to maintain Hon. Uko’s SA on Religious Matters as his own SA.
Guest Preacher on the occasion, Rev. Ntia I. Ntia, commended the Speaker and members of the House for placing God first in their affairs by dedicating the House’ leadership to God. Rev. Ntia, who is the General Overseer of the Full Life Christian Centre, Uyo, drew his message from 2nd Timothy 1:2. The cleric emphasised the importance of dedication. He explained that by the action of the new leadership of the House under the watch of Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, the omnipotence of God has been acknowledged for good by the lawmakers. Rev. Ntia charged the Speaker to continue to uphold his faith in God alone.
Highpoint of the dedication service was a special prayer by Rev. Ntia and a host of other men of God for Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, his wife and members of the sixth assembly.
