The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh has charged the people of Obio Offot community in Uyo Local Government Area to support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, adding that doing so, is the only way they can appreciate the Governor for appointing him into the State Executive Council.
The Commissioner explained that he is not only representing the people of Obio Offot but the entire state, and therefore solicit support from his kinsmen.
Speaking during the Obio Offot political meeting, Saturday, at St. Mary’s Primary School Obio Offot, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy who is from the community, noted that God has a purpose for appointing him to be commissioner and promised to always try his best within the available resources to better the lives of Obio Offot people.
“I can’t be Commissioner without bringing something back. God brought me to unite everybody not to scatter me.
“I don’t need election. The only election I need your support is Governor Udom’s reelection in 2019.”
Mr. Udoh told his kinsmen about the N10m grant usually given to communities by World Bank and revealed that Obio Offot community will soon be beneficiary of the grant as necessary registration process had been concluded.
The Commissioner urged his kinsmen to go out and register for National Identity Card as well as participate in voters’ registration so as to qualify to vote during elections.
He promised to always meet with them anytime he has opportunity to do so and appointed the Youth Leader of the community Mr. Inibehe Uko, and Mr. Paulinus Okon as his Special Assistants.
Earlier in his remark, the political leader of Obio Offot Hon. Solomon Tom Udosen appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing their son as commissioner, describing the Governor’s gesture as a demonstration of love for the people of Obio Offot.
The political leader recalled, “In 2015, the people of Obio Offot came out enmass to give their 100% vote to the Executive Governor of the state and today come 2019,Obio Offot people will do same again.
“We are solidly behind the Governor to support him 100% in appreciation.”
The political leader appealed to the state Government for the fencing of St. Mary’s Primary School, establishment of empowerment scheme for political class, youths and women of the community, as well as recognition of five omitted villages in the area.
Also speaking, the Chairman Obio Offot Village Council, Chief Christopher Joseph thanked Mr. Charles Udoh for accepting the appointment and noted that every one was looking up to.
Chief Joseph appealed to the Commissioner to always carry everybody along irrespective of what some people may come to say behind about others.
The gathering witnessed the presence of hundreds of youth, women, elders, political stalwarts from ward six and visitors.
