2015: 'The Governor after me will come from Oron' -Umana Umana Pledges

*Oron to be developed into a modern coastal city

The APC governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Umana Okon Umana has pledged before the entire Oro nation that he would work for the emergence of a governor from Oro nation after him. Speaking before a massive crowd at Oron Township stadium Tuesday (27 Jan), Umana noted that it would be just, right and equitable for the third largest ethnic bloc in the state to produce the next governor after him; and to set the machinery in motion, Umana’s running mate is from Uruefor Oruko LGA, one of the 5 LGAs in Oro.

This is the first time in our history that a governorship candidate (or a governor) has solemnly made such a promise to Oro, thus creating the most credible and feasible path for the emergence of a governor from that part of the state. Umana’s momentous announcement was received with a loud, thunderous applause from the over one million people that massed in the expansive sport arena. Adjoining streets were all filled with supporters and party members who waved brooms and chanted ‘change’.

In addition, Umana also pledged to develop Oro nation into a modern coastal city with thriving marine and recreational businesses. Among industrious Oro citizens who spoke at the rally were Chief Ita Awak, Chief Larry Esin, Prof. Eminue, Barr Efiong Oquong. Earlier in the day, Umana and his team has visited Oron Traditional Rulers Council where he formally introduced his running mate, Engr Ben Ukpong and promised to bring roads and infrastructure to Oron. The two candidates received royal blessings from the Royal Fathers.
