A governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Bishop Samuel Akpan, has called on
Governor Godswill Akpabio to support his ambition
in the general elections next year.
Addressing a crowd of supporters in Calabar, Cross River State, yesterday, Bishop Akpan said the governor owed him a debt, which he said he should pay back by supporting
Akpan said he supported Akpabio’s support to become governor, adding that it was time
for the governor to pay back the debt. Speaking at the
occasion, which also served as the flag-off of the
Cross River State chapter of the Bishop Samuel Akpan Organization, Akpan said, “I have not betrayed my friend the governor. I supported an
Annang man. I have paid my dues. If I was wicked to him, let me have wickedness in return.
But if I was sincere, let me get sincerity in return. This is
the time to test Akpabio to show the kind of man he is. This is the time to know if he is a good
man. “This is the time for truth. I will never betray him. If he supports me, it shall be well
with him, but if he does not, there are many questions on
his table to be answered. I enjoy a massive support of Annang people because I supported an
Annang man. Others should support me as I supported them.”
He said he had a mission of
empowerment, economic freedom and industrialisation for the people of the state.
